Through its Danish subsidiary, ENVO Biogas Tønder A/S, Anaergia is to supply up to 60,000 tons of CO2 per year over a period of 10 years from the production of biogas in Tønder to European Energy. Gorrissen Federspiel has assisted the Canadian-based Anaergia Group with drafting and negotiating the agreement on the supply of liquefied CO2. With the CO2 delivered by Anaergia, European Energy will produce green e-methanol through Power-to-X facilities to power containerships that A.P. Moller Maersk is having built.
The agreement is significant as it is one of the first – if not the first – agreement on the supply of liquefied CO2 in Denmark, and because it is an example of Carbon Capture and Utilization in the form of waste gas (CO2) from biogas production becoming a useful biofuel.
The team from Gorrissen Federspiel consisted of Christoffer Fode and Claus Jespersen with great assistance from Henrik Søgaard-Nielsen.
