Attorney
Lasse Lau Nielsen has worked intensively in the field of media and entertainment law for almost a decade. He has built up in-depth knowledge of the entertainment industry, including its special rules, structures and customs, as well as collective rights management. As part of his long-standing employment at the Ministry of Culture, Lasse has gained special insight into the political decision-making processes that form the basis for the current regulation of the industry. He has been responsible for drafting bills, negotiating and implementing the EU directive, etc.
In recent years, Lasse has acted as an adviser to the music companies' trade association IFPI Denmark and the management organisation MPO, especially in matters related to negotiating collective agreements on the use of commercial music. He has extensive experience in drafting licence agreements and analysing the technological, commercial, and legal aspects driving developments in the entertainment industry.
He is a board member of the management organisation Copydan AVU-Medier, representing the music companies. He is the editor and co-author of the textbook Entertainment Law and has taught the course at the University of Copenhagen since 2018.
