Claus Jespersen is Managing Counsel in Gorrissen Federspiel's Energy sector group and has assisted Danish and international operators for more than 20 years with M&A transactions, financing and project development, including contract negotiations and drafting of contracts, especially in relation to intake and offtake in energy projects, whereby Claus has built up significant market experience that creates value for our clients.
Claus has specialised insight and significant experience in advising Danish and international operators in the biogas market, including establishing ownership structures, securing the legal framework for planned or ongoing projects, project synergies (water supply, heat supply, etc.), financing, sustainability certification schemes (guarantees of origin, RedCert, ISCC, etc.), delivery of biomass and sale of upgraded biogas and biogenic CO2.
As an essential element in advising on energy projects, Claus provides specialised advice to Danish and foreign banks and undertakings on loan financing, guarantees and enforcement.
As a member of our German Desk, Claus assists Danish and German-speaking clients with various transactions, especially mergers and acquisitions, litigation and not least with the purchase and sale of properties, solar plants and wind turbines located in Germany.
He teaches on current topics in energy and infrastructure (including sustainability certifications), usually in the form of customised client sessions, but has also taught other attorneys on topics relating to renewable energy.
Claus is also one of our firm's two “head mentors” and therefore has a special responsibility for the training of our assistant attorneys.
