Bernardo has been working in energy and regulated markets for more than ten years with clients from more than 20 countries.
His line of work has been intimately related to the energy industry and to regulated markets. He has served as lead counsel both as a transactional lawyer and as a litigator in cases with a high regulatory component in the last decade.
Regarding Pro Bono work, Bernardo has leaded and participated in strategic litigation in human rights cases linked to free speech, non-discrimination and LGBTIQ+ rights and has been board member and advisor to several NGOs.
Before joining Gorrissen Federspiel, Bernardo served as an advisor to the Danish Energy Agency. In this capacity he has advised the governments of Colombia, Brazil, Turkey and Ethiopia in relation to electricity regulation and planning.
Bernardo has served as an adjunct professor of electricity regulation at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile and as an invited lecturer in the Advanced LL.M. in Energy Law of the Universities of Copenhagen, Aberdeen, Oslo and Groningen and as a guest at Cornell University (USA) and Universidad Carlos III (Spain).
Bernardo has participated as a student, coach and judge in the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C., USA.
