Since the summer of 2024, I have been working as a project student in the Corporate/M&A practice group, where I have mainly assisted with legalisations, indexing tasks and the organisation of virtual data rooms in connection with the early stages of major transactions and litigation. As a project student, you are still relatively new to law school, so the position offers a unique opportunity to gain an early insight into how law is used and handled in practice. This has not only increased my understanding of working as a lawyer and attorney but has also given me a greater appreciation of the theoretical aspects of law school.
Being a project student is far from monotonous. I work on larger, often time-consuming projects as well as smaller tasks, such as writing a draft email or researching a section of a particular act. One of the great advantages of working at Gorrissen Federspiel is the close collaboration both within our own group and with the other practice groups. This creates an educational and inspiring place to work, with plenty of opportunities to develop both professionally and socially.
There is also a strong emphasis on teamwork at Gorrissen Federspiel. We work as a group and solve tasks together rather than individually, which means I am rarely left alone with difficult tasks. Working together across year groups and student groups makes it possible to benefit from the knowledge and experience of more experienced colleagues. More senior students are always willing to help, whether it’s with work assignments, studies or other challenges. This creates a safe and welcoming atmosphere where you quickly feel part of the team.
The strong social and professional unity among the students has increased my motivation to take on new and challenging tasks, knowing that there is always help available if I am in doubt. This combination of professional support, collaboration and social relationships makes Gorrissen Federspiel a workplace where people can grow and develop.

Philip was employed as project law student in Corporate/M&A in the 3rd semester of law school and subsequently continued working in the group as a law student. Among other things, Philip is making use of the Gorrissen Federspiel travel grant, when he is going to Sydney in the fall to study a semester abroad.
